Some people feel that their voice can say a lot about them.

For example, deep voices might sound more authoritative than others.

A new study by scientists in America claims that a man's voice can give a good indication of his physical strength.

They brought together a group of students to guess the upper body strength of different men - just by listening to their voices.

According to the scientists, the students' answers were almost totally correct and based on the voices they heard, they were able to guess how strong the man speaking was.

Surprisingly however, the students were not able to answer correctly when it came to female voices.

The scientists believe that the human ability to guess strength evolved over time to help in situations where people cannot see their enemies in the dark, but needed to know how strong they might be.
