أسباب التعصب الكروي

Hello and welcome to BBC Xtra English!

An investigation has been launched following a bad tempered match between two Scottish football teams; Glasgow Rangers and Celtic.

The two teams are from the Scottish city of Glasgow and they have been historic rivals.

During the last match between the two teams, three members of the Rangers team were sent off, and two opposing coaches had to be separated.

The head of the Scottish Football Association condemned the behaviour as inflammatory and irresponsible.

A meeting has been called to look at how future matches between the teams will be organised.

BBC sports news reporter Alex Capstick said that the matches between the two neighbouring teams are usually heated but the mayhem during the latest clash has been described as an embarrassment to Scottish football.

Scotland’s first minister Alex Salmond, said that " fans at football matches are representatives of their clubs, the players at football matches are role models for society”.

He also said that they all must behave responsibly.

The intense rivalry between the two teams goes back more than a century and is also partly based on religious divides.

Assistant Chief Constable Campbell Corrigan said that they need to look at how these games are organised because the authorities can no longer afford to police the fixture.
