تلاعب بنتائج مباريات ودية في تركيا

Hello and welcome to BBC Xtra English!

Today we talk about disciplinary proceedings that FIFA has launched against six officials over possible match fixing.

They are suspected of helping to manipulate the outcome of two recent international friendly fixture where all of the seven goals scored were penalties.

FIFA's investigation began following a remarkable sequence of events at a mini tournament in Turkey on February 9th.

The resort of Antalya hosted two international friendly matches that were organised by football agency with offices in the Far East.

Only a hundred or so people turned up to watch.
The first between Latvia and Bolivia finished 2-all. The second was a 2-1 victory for Estonia against Bulgaria.

People became suspicious because all seven goals were penalties. The chances of that happening are very remote.

A company which monitors betting patterns across the world also noticed unusual amounts of money being placed on three or more goals being scored in each match.

The football authorities were alerted following initial concerns expressed by the Estonian Football Association.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time an international friendly match has come under investigation.

Last year a fake Togo team lost 3-0 in Bahrain. FIFA promised to bring in new regulations for such low profile fixtures organised by independent agencies.

The President of football's world governing body Sepp Blatter said they were staged only for betting reasons.
