Toulouse 3-2 Liverpool: Analysis

It would be all too easy to say Liverpool were denied a result by a controversial VAR call - certainly the handball ruling against Alexis Mac Allister was harsh.
But in reality, Liverpool failed to get anything from Toulouse because they were wasteful in attack before being overcome by the better team.
Dominance in possession in the first half hour was not turned into goals or even many clear chances by the visitors.
Then Toulouse, much improved from the side thumped 5-1 at Anfield, took the lead and roared into the second half with immense confidence.
The Ligue 1 side could have been out of sight before Jarell Quansah appeared to snatch a 97th-minute point - and deserved all three.
Liverpool cannot afford to dwell on what VAR deemed a handball - their place in the Europa League knock-outs no longer seems so secure.
