A man, killed while driving on a County Durham road, may have collapsed at the wheel, police have said.
Michael Quinn, 54, of Dove Court in Birtley, Gateshead, died after a collision on South Crescent, Fencehouses near Chester-le-Street.
The crash happened at about 0525 BST. It is believed the car he was driving drifted out of its lane and collided with a traffic sign and island.
He was taken to hospital in Sunderland but died shortly after his arrival.
Police have said a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
