Almost one-third of workers overqualified, report finds

Almost one-third of UK workers are overqualified for the jobs they do, a survey suggests.

The report by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development also found that 22% of workers only required a compulsory level of education for their roles.

This figure is compared with 5% in other European countries, such as Sweden or Germany.

Ben Wilmott, the institute's head of public policy, told BBC Radio 5 live's Morning Reports: "There are some real structural fault lines in the economy and the labour market that need to be addressed."
