Each week we publish a gallery of readers' pictures on a set theme. This week, the theme is frozen and we start with a shot of mallard ducks by Emily Taylor.

Steve Wood: "The sudden warmer spell of weather meant I had to resort to the freezer for ideas."

Torun Widstrom: " It is like a stained glass windows of a church, only with less use of colour. It looks like secret symbols of some kind, maybe an extra-terrestrial language, but it really is the very earth-bound language of our own planet."

Cathy Hosler: "Start of the 2010 Iditarod Great Sled Race."

Tim Fallen-Bailey: "Handling frozen ropes is not fun, but they look nice. Taken on the River Thames at Surbiton, Surrey."

K Pickton: "My frosty garden in December."

Cathie Hunter: "This is one of the new Lupin leaves covered in a mixture of frost and frozen dew on one of the few chilly mornings we have had. They seemed to be encrusted with diamonds."

Paul Daly: "A couple walking in a freezing Phoenix Park in Dublin last winter."

David Johns: "This picture is the viewpoint through a window in a sculpture built on the frozen Lake Louise."

Maria Kirk: "Ice fishing in Finland. The hole had obviously been made some days before this photo was taken as the rise in temperature had caused it to widen. There appeared to be three layers of ice, each with water between them, before you got to the body of the lake itself."

And finally a photo from Claire Stewart: "My frozen car windscreen in Edinburgh." Next week the theme is hunger and the deadline for your entries is 31 January. If you would like to enter, send your pictures to yourpics@bbc.co.uk. Further details and terms can be found by following the link below this gallery.
