That's all we have time for today, and this week. But we'll be back on Monday with news on the last night of this year's London Film Festival, which comes to a close this weekend with a gala screening of Danny Boyle's new film about Apple pioneer Steve Jobs.

We'll also have a report on this year's UK Theatre Awards, a preview of this year's Q Awards, and a look at what happened when Eddie Murphy received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humour.

In the meantime, here's what happened when US talk show host Jimmy Fallon challenged Tom Hanks to act out scenes written by schoolchildren who'd been given the title of his new film - Bridge of Spies - to work on.

Have a good weekend.

One Direction's new single, Perfect, is already number one in dozens of iTunes charts around the world, mere hours after it was released.

It premiered this morning on Radio 1, where Nick Grimshaw invited a very excitable young fan to introduce the song on behalf of the band.

A lot of fans have spotted the song's similarity to Taylor Swift's Style - a song that was allegedly about her romance with Harry Style(s), hence the title.

One even went so far as to layer the two songs on top of one another. The results are quite uncanny.

A video for the single is due soon, shot on top of the Intercontinental Hotel in Times Square, New York. It might look a little like this...

Martin Kemp, Jason Manford, Lee Mead and Phill Jupitus are just some of the stars who have signed up for a UK tour of classic stage musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, set to begin in Southampton in February.

Here's how former One Show presenter Manford announced the news.

More of this year's Mercury Prize nominees have been tweeting their surprise and happiness at making the shortlist.

Ghostpoet later shared how he was celebrating:

BBC Breakfast

As TFI Friday prepares to return to Channel 4 tonight, BBC Breakfast went behind the scenes with host Chris Evans to reminisce about its heyday and give a glimpse of what viewers can expect from the new series.

Evan also dropped a few hints about the new series of Top Gear and who he might be fronting the show with.

It seems we were not the only ones to notice Dame Angela Lansbury turned 90 today.

X Factor winner Ben Haenow has just premiered his new single, Second Hand Heart.

A foot-stomping duet with Kelly Clarkson, it's the 30-year-old's first release since his winner's single, Something I Need, topped the charts last Christmas.

Earlier this week we subjected the star to five quick-fire questions on his music, Simon Cowell, and the song he'd listen to if he was on Death Row.

You can listen to Second Hand Heart on Spotify, external.

French street artist JR has worked on walls and buildings around the world.

His work involves taking portrait photos and daubing them across public spaces, including the security wall separating Israel from Gaza.

Speaking to the Today programme, he explained how he makes his art and whether he believes it can change how we think about our lives.

The reaction to his work, he says, led to the realisation that “it’s like one big street we all live in."

For now, here's a round-up of the final four nominees...

Jamie xx, shortlisted for his first solo record In Colour, is the only artist on the shortlist to have won before.

Recorded over five years, the album is a love letter to dance music, incorporating elements of rave, house and dancehall.

Soak picked up the 10th nomination. Her debut album, Before We Forgot How to Dream, is a delicate, unpretentious look at waving goodbye to childhood.

For those of you who haven't been paying attention, Gaz Coombes has matured into an accomplished, thoughtful musician. His nominated album, Matador, sees him take stock of life as he approaches 40.

After all those polite singer-songwriter albums, the visceral, full-throttle rock of Slaves gives the shortlist a last-minute shake-up.

The duo, from Tonbridge, put on a thrilling live show and their album pulls off the difficult feat of capturing that energy on tape.

If you want more information, we've written a potted guide to all 12 albums.

And you can also take a look at the official BBC Music website for the Mercury Prize.

The winners will be announced in London, and live on BBC Four and 6 Music, on 20 November.

"Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna turn around and desert you."

If we've planted an earworm in your head, spare a thought for Southampton resident Jack White, who has pledged to spend four days in a hotel room listening to nothing but Rick Astley's 1980s hit while on a sponsored silence.

White, 23, is taking on the charity challenge in support of his nephew, who has Type 1 diabetes.

He's just begun and will stream it on YouTube which you can watch - if you dare.

We're two-thirds of the way through the Mercury nominations now, so let's recap the latest hopefuls.

Multi-instrumentalist Eska Mtungwazi is recognised for her jazz-tinged, self-titled debut album, which has been championed by Jamie Cullum and Gilles Peterson.

Next up - and the biggest name on the list so far - is Florence + The Machine, nominated for her eviscerating, enthralling third album How Big How Blue How Beautiful.

The seventh nominee is Obaro Ejimiwe, better known as Ghostpoet - a London MC who decided to record his third album, Shedding Skin, with a full live band.

Benjamin Clementine took the eighth nomination for his piano-led confessional, At Least For Now.

A former busker blessed with a captivating voice, his career took off after a performance on Later... With Jools Holland, where he caught the attention of Sir Paul McCartney.

Let's take a quick recap of the Mercury shortlist so far, with some reaction, as the slow drip-feed of nominations continues on BBC 6 Music.

Synth wizard Aphex Twin got the first nod for Syro - his first album in 13 years. Here's the opening track.

Wolf Alice were up next, for their hard-rocking debut album My Love is Cool.

The BBC filmed the band playing the record's stand-out track, Bros, at the Reading Festival earlier this year.

Irish singer-songwriter Roisin Murphy scooped her first Mercury nomination for her solo record Hairless Toys, a wilfully eclectic collection of future pop.

"It's an unusual one," she told Lauren Laverne.

Next up was newcomer C Duncan - a classically trained musician whose layered, choral vocals have won critical plaudits, if not a huge number of album sales (so far).

Last night saw the second episode of The Apprentice of this week.

An average of 5.5 million tuned in to watch, according to overnight figures - almost a million fewer than those who watched the series opener on Wednesday.

The episode saw the candidates create advertising campaigns for a new brand of shampoo, based around the theme of its cactus ingredients.

Sadly, project manager Aisha Kasim was fired after branding her bottle with a cactus flower instead of an actual cactus.

Here's a reminder of their ad campaign.

Man band Take That will be among Chris Evans's guests when his anarchic chat show TFI Friday returns to Channel 4 later for a new eight-show run.

Gary, Mark and Howard will be performing their next single, Hey Boy, on tonight's programme. Here's a taster of the brand new track.
