Rage Against The Machine have hinted that they could write a new album in the wake of the campaign which took them to 2009 Christmas number 1.

Speaking to Radio 1's Zane Lowe guitarist Tom Morello said: "Having another record in existence would be fantastic, but getting from here to there is what's always been a little more difficult."

The Los Angeles band, who topped the charts with Killing In The Name following a Facebook campaign, last released an album in 2000.

They celebrated with a free 'victory' gig at London's Finsbury Park for 40,000 fans.

'Proud and pleased'

It's been 10 years since the group released a studio album - 2000's Renegades, a collection of covers.

The foursome initially split up in 2000, but reunited in 2007 to play shows around the world.

Morello added: "There was a time back in 2000 when I expected Rage never to play another show.

"We are all very proud and pleased to be in Rage Against The Machine - still rocking you. I don't know what the future holds."
