Sir Elton John says he hasn't been invited to Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding yet but doesn't expect he will be.
The star was famously friends with Princess Diana.
He performed Candle in the Wind at her funeral in 1997.
The singer told Newsbeat: "We've only met them ( William and Harry ) twice really. Once with their mother. We had a lunch with them at Kensington Palace when they were really young.
"We wouldn't expect to be invited, they have their own circle of friends."
The star's partner, David Furnish, said the couple didn't have the same friendship with her sons: "I don't think we will be invited because we're not actually that close to William and Harry.
"We don't really know them. We were closer to their mum more than anything."
A guest list for the royal wedding on 29 April has not yet been made public.
Sir Elton John also dismissed gossip that he would be playing at the wedding.
He joked: "No, that was never going to be happening only because they've probably got their own people, you know, like Chas & Dave, stuff like that."
Sir Elton John and David Furnish have just debuted the animated movie they helped to produce.
Gnomeo and Juliet, which features the voices of Matt Lucas, Emily Blunt, Ozzy Osbourne and Michael Caine, is out on 11 February.
