He's a lizard, he's 120 metres high, and he smashes cities for fun.
He's also now a resident of Shinjuku, Tokyo.
And a tourism ambassador for the district, following an official ceremony.
The fictional monster blockbuster was issued a special certificate of residency by officials in the district, for services to tourism and bringing visitors to Japan.

According to the Anime News Network, the residency paper reads:
Name: Godzilla
Address: Shinjuku-ku, Kabuki-cho, 1-19-1
Date of birth: November 3, 1954 (this is the year the first Godzilla film was released)
Date of Shinjuku residency: April 9, 2015
Reason for special residency: Promoting the entertainment of and watching over the Kabuki-cho neighborhood and drawing visitors from around the globe in the form of the Godzilla head built atop the Shinjuku TOHO Building.
Previous visits to Shinjuku Ward: 3 times; Godzilla (1984), Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991), Godzilla 2000 Millennium (1999)
Ah, so it's a bit of a plug for the area, then. Which is disappointing. In fact the ceremony was also marked with the unveiling of a giant 12-metre high Godzilla head on one of the area's skyscrapers.
On the plus side, you can pick up a copy of the residency certificate if you go to the local administrative offices.

The certificates are usually used by resident's to apply for nursery and school places, and in passport and driving licence applications.
It's actually pretty fortunate that Godzilla's residency is ceremonial, rather than practical.
The giant lizard would probably struggle trying to live in one of Tokyo's infamous 'bird cage' apartments - one bedroom flats in the city typically run to just 10 or 20 metres squared total - about the size of a living room in the west.
Film studio Toho, which owns the rights to Godzilla, is planning a new film for release in 2016. That follows the most recent Warner Brothers remake in 2014.
