Why's it gone Pete Tong for #EDM?
Instagram made #EDM unsearchable, disappointing people wanting their fix of EDM memes and rave selfies.
At first no one knew why. Maybe Instagram didn't like Steve Aoki's remix of Titanic?
Searches return the message: "Recent posts from #EDM are temporarily hidden because of some abuse we've seen."
When Instagram released a statement it said "#EDM was being used to share content that violates our guidelines around nudity".
This is the same policy that led to #Curvy being blocked earlier this year.
That prompted widespread complaints as the hashtag was actually intended to promote body positivity.
Instagram did unblock searches for #Curvy after it increased moderation of photos linked to the term.

Newsbeat asked Instagram to explain why some terms are blacklisted, while other hashtags remain searchable.
The firm says it only acts when images with a certain hashtag are "consistently inappropriate".
The hashtag itself isn't the issue.

For example, #EDM was banned, but #EDMGirls was not.
Hashtags such as #Sex and #Weed are unsearchable, while more explicit terms (use your #imagination) aren't banned because they don't get posted enough.
So theoretically if people were to start posting ahem, "inappropriate" selfies alongside #DavidCameron, then the prime minister would become unsearchable on Instagram.
David Cameron hashtags aren't blocked BTW, external
The list of terms currently banned is unavailable.
#EDM has been made searchable again, and Instagram says it's "working on a way to more quickly restore certain hashtags that have previously been blocked".
It also says it's "working on ways to better communicate our policies around hashtags".
