Jade Hameister has begun her mission to become the youngest person ever to compete the polar hat trick.

The 14-year-old is hoping to cross the North Pole, South Pole and the Greenland Crossing.

It will see the Australian school girl from Melbourne trek on three separate trips over the next two years.

Jade says she's doing it because she wants to "inspire and empower young women around the world to be more active and chase their dreams".

And she's been Instagramming her progress through training.

She first posted: Learning how to get out of a crevasse. Really hard work, but definitely a life skill worth having... You never know when you might fall in!, external

Along the way Jade has learned some new skills.

She uploaded a picture explaining: My first time on cross-country skis! It's never usually easy doing things for the first time. We spent 6 hours skiing and at the end of the day muscles were sore that had never really been sore before. It was so much fun and it just proves that it's great to take risks and get outside your comfort zone!, external

Her sense of realness comes through a lot too.

Jade posted: Don't be deceived by how nice this picture looks... It was actually -20 degrees, external

Oh and she's all for teaching us amazing facts.

She uploaded this fact: Polar bears actually have see-through fur!! It only appears white because it reflects visible light. They're nearly invisible under infrared photography. Polar bear skin, is surprisingly black!, external

And they just keep on coming.

Did you know Inuit people call polar bears "Nanuk" and believe they are wise, powerful and "almost a human". The Sami (or Lapp) people refuse to use the name for polar bears for fear of offending it. Instead they call it "God's Dog" or "old man in the fur cloak"., external

Jade makes everyone who avoids the gym feel really bad about themselves.

She posted: There's always a way to exercise. No matter where you are and no matter how cold it is, external

Even a chest infection can't get the best of her.

She posted: Although I have a chest infection and am finding it hard to breathe, I had to get a 1km row time trial out of the way.. so I decided to do it this morning. At the 3 minute mark I couldn't breathe at all and I started to give up and slowed down. But then changed my mind and decided to finish it as hard as I could. I was in tears afterwards, but glad it's out of the way. Hopefully I will break 4 minutes when I'm feeling better., external

And now Jade is all set to go.

She posted: Almost packed. Ava is trying to hide in our bags! Going to miss everyone over the next 4 weeks - especially my mum and my brother., external

Jade is now off to the North Pole to begin stage one of her expedition.

She'll attempt the Greenland Crossing in April 2017 and then the South Pole in December 2017.
