Curiosity rover to revolutionise Mars study
Nasa is sending its most sophisticated rover yet to the Red Planet, and scientists expect it to transform our understanding of the geological history of the planet.
The Mars Science Laboratory - also known as Curiosity - is set to touch down on Monday 6 August (GMT).
UK mission scientist Sanjeev Gupta told our correspondent Jonathan Amos about the location where the rover intends to land - Gale Crater, a deep hole on the planet's equator.
