Should alcoholics be given drinking zones?

A 'drinking zone' which would allow heavy drinkers to indulge without being moved on by the police could be tried out in a town in Essex.

Anti-social drinking in public areas has always been a difficult problem for local authorities to tackle but a councillor from Colchester has suggested a designated 'wet zone' which would move the drinkers out of the way of everyone else.
