The future of Barclays boss Bob Diamond is considered in several papers after it emerged that staff rigged the key lending rate between banks.

The <link> <caption>Financial Times</caption> <url href="http://www.ft.com/home/uk" platform="highweb"/> </link> says Mr Diamond is "engulfed in a political firestorm".

The <link> <caption>Sun refers to him as "damaged goods"</caption> <url href="http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/sun_says/244723/The-Sun-says-Cut-Diamond.html" platform="highweb"/> </link> , adding that he should be sacked if he fails to resign.

The only question, <link> <caption>as far as the Guardian is concerned</caption> <url href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2012/jun/28/barclays-fallen-architects-of-failure-must-go?newsfeed=true" platform="highweb"/> </link> , is whether he or the bank's chairman, Marcus Agius, departs first.

A number of newspapers suggest the rate-fixing exposed at Barclays was not confined to that bank.

The <link> <caption>Independent quotes a Treasury source</caption> <url href="http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/youll-pay-for-this-pm-tells-barclays-bosses-7897213.html" platform="highweb"/> </link> as saying: "What we're hearing is that everybody was at it."

At least 20 banks are believed to be under suspicion, <link> <caption>according to the Daily Mail</caption> <url href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2166242/20-banks-rigging-rates-British-bankers-facing-criminal-inquiry-scandal-kept-secret-years.html" platform="highweb"/> </link> . However, the <link> <caption>Times</caption> <url href="http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/news/" platform="highweb"/> </link> says dozens of other banks are being investigated.

And a <link> <caption>cartoon by Matt in the Daily Telegraph</caption> <url href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/matt/" platform="highweb"/> </link> shows a man selling papers in the street. His placard reads "queen to shake neck of Barclays chief".

The opening of an official memorial to the men of Bomber Command is seen by all as a very belated act of justice.

"Patriotism, courage, decency and the defence of freedom need never go out of fashion," it declares.

David Beckham is seen as the victim of <link> <caption>what the Sun calls "an incredible snub"</caption> <url href="http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/sun_says/article244723.ece" platform="highweb"/> </link> after his exclusion from the Great Britain Olympic football team.

"Why always him?", asks its headline.
