Axe-wielding robber tackled by staff at County Durham shop

A man had been sentenced to six years in prison with a four-year extended licence period, after threatening staff with an axe at a shop in County Durham.

Shaun McKerry, 31, was wrestled to the ground by the shopkeeper.

His Honour Judge Prince told the court: "I can't remember seeing such a conspicuous display of bravery".
