Unison welcomes European court ruling on travel time
The union Unison has welcomed a European Court of Justice decision which means travelling to appointments from home should form part of a person's working day.
The ruling will affect mobile workers such as care staff, gas fitters or sales reps.
The court said time spent travelling to and from their first and last appointments should be regarded as working time, under the European Working Time Directive.
Matthew Egan from Unison said he hoped the move would raise pay for staff.
