Migrant crisis: 'UK should take 30,000 more refugees' - bishops

Eighty-four Church of England bishops have revealed that they wrote to David Cameron last month, urging him to accept at least 50,000 refugees from Syria.

Bishop of Durham Paul Butler said that Britain had international responsibility towards those fleeing for their lives because of war and persecution.

"We believe there should be at least 50,000 taken rather than 20,000," he added.
