Thames Valley Police say the murder investigation into the death of Ashley Gillard remains ongoing

A man charged with arson with intent to endanger life after a man was found dead following a flat fire has appeared in court.

Thomas White, 25, of Bibury Close, Wellingborough, did not enter a plea at Milton Keynes Magistrates' Court.

He also faced two counts of taking a vehicle without consent.

The body of Ashley Gillard, 31, was found in a flat in Trevithick Court, Wolverton in Milton Keynes by emergency crews on Monday.

The case was adjourned until 15 June when it will resume at Aylesbury Crown Court.

A post-mortem examination on Mr Gillard found the cause of death was inconclusive and further tests will need to be carried out.

A 25-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been granted police bail until 10 August.
