Scarlett Stokes-Craig died of a head injury at London's Great Ormond Street Hospital in January 2013
A father accused of killing his baby daughter has told a court how she suddenly went "rigid and floppy and lifeless" in his arms as he was feeding her.
Scarlett Stokes-Craig died of a head injury at London's Great Ormond Street Hospital in January 2013.
Her father Adam Stokes, 33, from Runfold, Luton, is accused of her manslaughter.
Mr Stokes denies causing the injuries which led to the nine-week-old's death.
Ambulance called
Luton Crown Court earlier heard Scarlett stopped breathing and went blue on 13 January, 2013, but was sent home from an urgent GP clinic at Luton and Dunstable Hospital after sleeping normally.
The next day she collapsed at the eighth floor flat where she lived in Green Court, Green Close, and an ambulance was called at about 08:00 GMT.
Paramedics found her to be "pale, unresponsive, blue, floppy, warm to the touch and in cardiac arrest".
Mr Stokes told the court his daughter was a "very, very quiet baby" who did not cry often and who sometimes had to be woken up for her feeds.
He said on the morning of 14 January he started feeding her and winding her after each ounce when once again she went rigid then floppy and ended up like "a rag doll".
A post-mortem examination found she died of bleeding in the brain and around both eyes.
The prosecution alleges that Mr Stokes killed his daughter by shaking her with "excessive force", which caused her brain injuries.
Mr Stokes told the court that he had "never ever" shaken her,
Asked how he felt when he was told Scarlett's life support was to be removed on 24 January he said: "It was like my whole world had been ripped apart."
The trial continues.
