A civic funeral service is to be held for a Slough councillor who died following a fall at her home.

Sonja Jenkins, 71, who had represented the Foxborough ward as a Liberal Democrat councillor since 2004, passed away on 29 December.

She was described as a "pillar of the community" who will be "sorely missed".

Mayor of Slough, Councillor Jagjit Grewal, will lead a civic party at her funeral at Slough Crematorium on Wednesday.

There will also be tributes from leader of the council, Councillor Rob Anderson, Mrs Jenkins' grandson, Tom Vickers and her daughter, Carol Jenkins.

Hymns will include Morning Has Broken and The Lord is My Shepherd, the council said.

The family have asked people not to send flowers but instead donate to either Age Concern (Slough), The Langley Carnival or The Donkey Sanctuary.
