Parts of the hospital were plunged into darkness
The accident and emergency department of a Berkshire hospital has reopened after power was restored following a flood and small fire.
Major incident status had been declared at Reading's Royal Berkshire Hospital following power cuts on Thursday.
Power has now been fully restored to Battle Block and North Block using temporary generators, Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust said.
It follows a flood in the basement and a fire in a power supply cupboard.
In a statement, Mary Sherry, chief operating officer for the trust, said the generators would remain in place until the hospital's main circuits and power board were "secure and fixed".
"In a phased approach, we have started to return patients to Battle and North Blocks," she added.
On Saturday, she said 89 patients had been moved from Battle Block.
Ms Sherry warned the hospital remained on "internal incident alert and is still under extreme pressure" and urged people with non-emergency concerns "to consider other suitable alternatives".
A burst underground pipe caused the flood on Thursday, which was followed just hours later by the blaze in the coronary unit. No-one was injured.
