M4 motorway shut by hand wipes and diesel spillage

  • Published

A spilled load of hand wipes and diesel has left the M4 motorway closed.

A HGV jack-knifed at 05:53 BST between junctions 13 and 12, spilling diesel on to the carriageway.

All three eastbound lanes of the motorway were closed while a clear-up took place. Diversions are in place and drivers are advised to avoid the area.

The motorway could be shut until the early hours of Sunday as the damage was worse than thought, Highways England said.
