Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge on 'black alert'

Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge has been put on the highest alert as it approaches its busiest period of the year.

Visitors have also been asked to stay away if they have flu-like symptoms, and children should not visit unless essential, during the "black alert".

Patients due for surgery or an outpatients appointment should contact the hospital, it said.

People with flu-like symptoms are advised to see their GP.
