Band archives going back 120 years were also lost to the fire
A Derbyshire brass band whose equipment was destroyed in a fire have said they have been overwhelmed by support.
Tideswell Band, external lost almost half its instruments plus sheet music, uniforms and archives when flames engulfed the village's youth club at the weekend.
But thanks to help via social media and the local community the group played at a concert just hours later.
Damage has been estimated at about £30,000 but organisers said fundraising had already begun.
'Instruments loaned'
Fire crews were called to the single storey wooden building on Whitecross Road just after 03:00 BST.
Tim Bradwell, from the 25-piece brass band, said: "My first reaction was disbelief. I thought it was a joke at first.
"It was very sad but the reaction has been incredible - a sister band loaned us instruments, publishing companies offered music, someone rang up and even offered jackets.
"To be able to play the concert that evening was fantastic, it really buoyed the spirits and the phoenix will rise."
A major concert in Bakewell on Wednesday is set to go ahead after other local bands loaned original pieces of music to the band.
Police said the fire at the building, which also houses the youth club and scout troupe, is not thought to be suspicious.
