Police in Gloucestershire are warning youngsters not to use Halloween as an excuse for anti-social behaviour.
The force is stepping up patrols in problem areas and shops are being asked to restrict sales of flour and eggs to teenagers.
Gloucestershire Police has also released a tape of Halloween 999 calls to highlight the issue.
In one call a motorist tells police how she was forced to swerve after eggs were thrown at her windscreen.
"We're only talking about a minority of people who think it's acceptable to use the festivities as an excuse to behave like yobs, but their impact on the rest of the community can be great," a police spokesman said.
Police have also released a downloadable poster, external for those people who do not want Halloween visitors.
