Police in part of Gloucestershire are warning drivers of heavy lorries to abide by weight restrictions.
The move comes after vehicles of up to 38 tonnes had been seen travelling down rural lanes in Hardwicke.
A force spokesman said signs showing the weight limit had been posted for more than nine months.
"They [lorries] compress the road and fill in ditches at the sides of the road which can cause flooding when it rains," a force spokesman said.
"Many in the community are fed up with this, so I would urge drivers to think twice before ploughing on regardless," he added.
