Mr Ward was a keen cyclist and worked for GE Aviation
The family of a 23-year-old man who was killed when he was struck by a horsebox on a road in Gloucestershire have paid tribute to him.
Alex Ward was riding his bike when the accident happened at Ford, near Temple Guiting, on Sunday.
His mother Ute Ward said: "Alex grew up always curious, learning and smiling. He was a high achiever, his honest and out-going nature won him many friends."
Mr Ward, originally from Cambridge, worked at GE Aviation near Cheltenham.
Mrs Ward added: "We don't know what happened, but what we do know is it that all of us, his family, friends and colleagues, have lost someone special and a light no longer shines in our lives."
He also leaves behind his father, Pete, his younger brother. Christopher, and his long-term girlfriend Megan Carpenter.
Ms Carpenter said Alex really enjoyed living in the Cotswolds, especially cycling in the area.
"He had recently taken part in the London to Brighton charity cycle ride with his work colleagues and we had plans to cycle together from Vienna to Budapest this summer," she added.
The driver of the horsebox, a 58-year-old who lives locally, was uninjured.
Anyone who witnessed the accident, which happened just before 13:00 BST on 8 July, is asked to contact police.
