A man who stopped to help the driver of a crashed car in Hampshire was left critically injured after two other cars went out of control in the same spot.
The 59-year-old and another man, 21, were helping the driver of a MG which had left Minley Road, Farnborough, on Monday at about 0545 GMT.
Soon afterwards a Mazda 3, driven by a 41-year-old Farnborough man, went out of control, hitting the two men.
Then a Mitsubishi car, driven by a Surrey man, aged 25, also hit them.
Hampshire police said the 59-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Frimley Park Hospital before being transferred to St George's Hospital in London.
The other people involved in the crashes also sustained serious injuries, but none were deemed to be life threatening.
Police said ice is believed to have contributed to the crashes. They are appealing for witnesses.
