A Portsmouth pub has had its premises licence revoked after a fight.

The owners of the Victory in The Hard have 21 days to appeal against the decision, which was taken by Portsmouth City Council's licensing committee on Tuesday.

Hampshire Constabulary applied to remove the venue's premises licence after what it described as "serious disorder" on 4 July.

The decision will come into force on 25 August.

The police said interim steps had been taken to stop alcohol from being sold on the premises.

Acting Sgt Matt Moss said: "I hope this sends a clear message to all licenced premises that we will ensure pubs are being run properly and will always take action if their licenses are being breached."

Julie Swan, chairwoman of the committee, said the police and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service had both highlighted serious issues.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray in connection with the incident on 4 July.

He was bailed until 18 August.
