'Illegal immigrants' detained at Southampton Docks

Four suspected illegal immigrants have been arrested by police at Southampton Docks.

They were reported to police after being spotted at the DP World container site just after 01:00 BST.

The men, from Syria and Morocco, were found at Western Docks after a search of the site.

Hampshire Constabulary said they were being held on suspicion of being illegally in the UK and have been detained.

A spokeswoman for DP World said three intruders were apprehended on the site and operations were suspended until 07:00 BST while a "site sweep" was undertaken.

The Border Force said four men were arrested in a restricted area of Southampton docks.
