Sixteen people were checked by paramedics after six vehicles crashed on the M2 in Kent.
A woman suffered suspected spinal injuries after the incident on the coastbound carriageway between Gillingham and Sittingbourne. No-one else was seriously hurt.
The incident, just after 11:30 BST, led to delays for several hours.
BBC travel news said the carriageway was blocked and traffic was passing on the hard shoulder.
