Pontefract Hospital's A&E department has been closed overnight since 1 November
Health watchdogs are due to meet later to review a decision to temporarily close the A&E department at Pontefract Hospital in West Yorkshire.
The decision by Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust to close the unit from 22:00 to 08:00 each night has drawn criticism from residents and MPs.
The closure, which began on 1 November, is being blamed on staff shortages.
Wakefield Council's social care and health scrutiny committee will look at how the closure has affected people.
The health trust said the decision to close the A&E department at Pontefract was made "purely on patient safety grounds" and was only a temporary measure.
Yvette Cooper, MP for Pontefract and Castleford, has already called on the trust board to draw up a plan for the eventual reopening of the unit.
