A Victorian organ and a small steam engine from a Leicestershire secondary school have been sold at auction.

Mount Grace High School in Hinckley, which was built in 1894, closes its doors later this month.

Many of the items listed dated back to the 1920s and 30s, and also included a stuffed bird collection and Edwardian gym equipment.

Together with items sold previously, the auction raised £36,000 which will go towards the new Hinckley Academy.

At Saturday's auction the organ was sold for £1,500 to a local buyer.

Acting head teacher Tom Dunne said the organ would now take three weeks to dismantle.

Many of the staff from Mount Grace will be moving to the new Hinckley Academy and John Cleveland Sixth Form Centre.

The site is expected to be demolished and replaced later next year with a new primary school.
