About 35 homes and businesses were affected when a burst water main flooded a north London high street.
Kilburn High Street was submerged in water up to 3ft (1m) deep when the pipe burst at about 0500 BST.
About 30 firefighters and six engines attended, pumping water away from properties and using sand bags although no building had to be evacuated.
The road was reopened after about five hours. Thames Water apologised for the disruption.
The London Fire Brigade said about 655ft (200m) of road was flooded.
A Thames Water spokeswoman said: "We are really sorry for the disruption on Kilburn High Road today caused by a burst on a 16-inch water main.
"We are especially sorry to customers whose properties were flooded.
"This is our job to fix and our responsibility to put right."
