Al-Shabab militants have been battling African Union forces in Somalia
A man has been charged with preparing to go to Somalia to join Islamist militant group Al-Shabab.
Trevor Mulindwa, 20, of Mitcham in south London, was charged under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006, a Met Police spokesman said.
He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday.
Al-Shabab has carried out many attacks in Kenya, including the 2013 attack on the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi, in which 67 people died.
