A man and woman have been charged with neglect having been accused of leaving eight children home alone.
The BBC understands the children are aged between five months and 11 years old.
The couple appeared before Salford and Manchester Magistrates' Court.
They were released on bail to appear at Manchester Crown Court on 10 February.
