Firefighters had to cut free the Astra driver as he was trapped under the rubble in his car
A man has been arrested in connection with a traffic collision that left three people seriously injured when two cars hit a pub in Chester.
A Vauxhall Astra and a BMW X5 collided on Tarvin Road on Sunday before hitting the Bridge Inn pub.
The 31-year-old man is being questioned on suspicion of assault, criminal damage and dangerous driving.
He was also arrested for failure to stop and failure to report a collision and driving whilst unfit.
Two men who were taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital after the incident are said to be in a "serious but stable condition". A woman who was injured has since been discharged.
A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said nobody at the pub was hurt but due to extensive structural damage the premises will be shut until it can be examined and repaired.
She added that the force was no longer looking to speak to a man, believed to a passenger in one of the cars, who officers were searching for on Monday.
