Snow falling in Northamptonshire has led to some travel problems but roads are passable with care, police said.

Gritting teams were out during the Thursday night as temperature dipped. Gretton Primary School is closed as teachers were unable to get there.

Alfred Street Junior in Rushden shut after the heating system failed but all others are open.

Forecasters said snow was set to continue falling into Friday with the mercury dropping to -4C.

The Met Office said icy conditions were expected throughout Friday. The first reports of settling snow were received in Northampton and Wellingborough late on Thursday.
