The campus would be called Waterside and is on the edge of the river Nene
Plans for a £330m university campus for Northampton have been put on display before a detailed application is presented to the borough council.
Northampton University plans to move from sites in St George's Avenue and Boughton Green Road to Nunn Mills Road, external.
It hopes the move to the 55-acre (22 hectares) site will increase student numbers from the current 15,000.
Northampton Borough Council will receive the plans in November and, if approved, work could start next year.

The new sports facilities would be open to non-students
Vice chancellor Nick Petford said it was "the largest development of any university campus currently under way".
The council approved outline planning in December.
The University of Northampton specialist subjects include engineering, psychology and leather work.
It says it is the only university in the world with a working tannery and this will be relocated to the Waterside Campus along with all the other academic buildings.

The relocation of the university is part of a wider regeneration of Northampton's town centre
The development also includes sport facilities and shops, which will be open to the public.
Funding for the relocation includes a £46m loan approved by the borough council and a £14m loan approved by Northamptonshire County Council, both funded from the Public Works Loan Board.
The university plans to sell its Park Campus to housing developers and has yet to reveal its plans for its Avenue Campus.
Prof Petford said he hoped the Waterside Campus would open in 2018.
