Police patrols in parts of Northampton have been increased following the rape of a teenage girl.
The 14-year-old was attacked on a pathway between Lings Way and East Butterfield Court in Goldings at 21:15 GMT on Thursday.
An image of a short, "stocky" man police are seeking in connection with the assault has been released.
A police spokesman said although such attacks were rare, people should "take sensible precautions and be vigilant".
The suspected rapist is described as white, stocky, about 5ft 1in (1.55m) tall and in his 30s.
He has short, very-closely shaven hair, a round, red face and a large nose.
At the time of the attack, he was wearing a grey hooded tracksuit top with a zip at the front, dark coloured bottoms and dark trainers.
He spoke with an eastern European accent, Northamptonshire Police said.
