Two people have been charged with murder after a man's body was found in a house fire in Northampton.

Karl Pound, 50, and Mary Cash, 38, both from the town, are also accused of arson recklessly endangering life.

The victim's body, which has yet to be formally identified, was found inside a house in Rothersthorpe Road at about midday on 8 October.

A post-mortem examination at Leicester Royal Infirmary on Friday concluded he died before the fire started.

The accused pair appeared before Northampton Magistrates' Court earlier and were remanded in custody. They are due to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on Tuesday.
