Matthew Hancock said he was in Lowestoft to see what was needed
Flood repairs costing £1.5m on the Suffolk coast have been agreed amid concerns delays might lead to the collapse of a seawall.
Waveney District Council agreed the repairs to Lowestoft South Beach as a "priority scheme" following damage caused by December's tidal surge.
Initial work, the council was told, should start "as soon as possible to avoid failure of the seawall."
The improvements were agreed unanimously by the full council.
