A woman accused of murdering an elderly relative has made her first appearance in court.

John Proctor, 80, was found in a house on Grimsey Road in Leiston, Suffolk on Monday and tests showed he died from compression to the neck.

Susan Warne, 41, of Valley Road, Leiston has been remanded by magistrates in Ipswich, where she spoke only to confirm her name and address.

Her case has been sent to Ipswich Crown Court.

It is understood the pair were members of the same fostering family, but they were not blood relatives.

Mr Proctor was believed to have lived in the house where he was found.

The defendant was told she will have a bail hearing at crown court next week and a further preliminary hearing on 30 June.
