A 22-year-old man was found dead in his bed on Christmas Eve after taking "Superman" ecstasy, an inquest has heard.

Justas Ropas, a Lithuanian who lived in Ipswich, had overdosed on the drug, which contained the chemical PMMA, external.

Mr Ropas and his brother had bought five of the pills, which featured the Superman logo, but it is not known if he took a single or double dose.

The inquest heard he was "burning up and sweating" prior to going to bed.

Suffolk coroner Peter Dean recorded a verdict of "drug-related accidental death".

Adrian Lubecki was jailed earlier this year for supplying the drugs which killed Mr Ropas, who lived on Bramford Lane.

Inquests were held in Ipswich for two other men who died after taking tablets, which prompted a nationwide police warning.

John Hocking, of Woodbridge, died at a friend's house in Rendlesham on 1 January, but he had taken tablets which contained MDMA (commonly known as ecstasy) rather than PMMA.

Recording the same verdict, Mr Dean said the 20-year-old's cocktail of alcohol, ecstasy and cocaine showed the "extreme risks associated with recreational drugs".

Mr Hocking lived with his mother in Woodbridge and had been doing agency work at a solar farm near Colchester and labouring at Rock Barracks, Woodbridge.

Det Ch Insp Caroline Millar told the inquest that post-mortem tests showed the amount of MDMA found in Mr Hocking's body was more than double that found in other similar deaths.

Gediminas Kulokas, 24, took the drug while celebrating with his brother, girlfriend and another friend at his flat on Provan Court, Ipswich.

The inquest heard he became agitated, sweaty and developed breathing problems before he died on New Year's Day, which was also his birthday.

He also died of a drug-related accidental death, the coroner said.
