A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was discovered at a flat in East Sussex.

Christopher Hunnisett, of Hastings, is being questioned by police after the body of a man was a found at a property in Dorset Road South, Bexhill.

Sussex Police officers visited the address after the 27-year-old attended Hastings Police station.

Mr Hunnisett was cleared of the unrelated murder of a vicar at a retrial last year.

He had spent eight years in jail for the murder of the Reverend Ronald Glazebrook before his conviction was quashed.

The force said the death in Bexhill on Tuesday night was being treated as suspicious but could not confirm whether a weapon had been used.

Officers have been carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the area.

Det Ch Insp Nick Sloan said: "A 27-year-old man attended Hastings police station late last night to report an incident, which led us to the body of a man in a flat in Bexhill.

"The man is in custody at Hastings, where we will be interviewing him to find out what happened.

"Officers are carrying out house-to-house enquiries whilst a forensic examination is made of the scene. We are in the early stages of this investigation and I would ask anyone who has information to come forward."
