A man is being treated for life-threatening injuries after he was assaulted in East Sussex.
The victim, of no fixed address, was attacked in Langley Road, Eastbourne, at about 0040 GMT.
Police said he was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital before being transferred to the Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre, in Haywards Heath.
A local man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
