A man is in hospital with stab wounds after he was attacked during a burglary at his home in West Sussex.
The 43-year-old was airlifted to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton after his face was cut and he was stabbed in the chest.
Police said the man, from Lancing, was in a serious but stable condition after the break-in at his home in Warren Court at about 22:00 BST on Thursday.
Two 16-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.
'Nasty wound'
Police said the victim's mobile phone was stolen in the burglary.
"The victim suffered a nasty wound to the chest that could have caused him life-threatening injuries," said Det Sgt Chris Leech.
"Thankfully the weapon appears to have missed all of his major organs but it might not have done.
"We need to speak to anyone who was in Warren Court on Thursday night and saw a group of teenagers acting suspiciously or running away from the road."
