Julia Tshabalala was described as "loving, happy, kind and caring" by her mother

A mother says she is "devastated" by the death of her daughter who is believed to have been strangled by her husband before he hanged himself.

Jan Tshabalala, 33, and his wife Julia, 30, were found dead in Groomsland Drive, Billingshurst, on Christmas Day.

Sussex Police revealed Mr Tshabalala's cause of death was hanging, while post-mortem tests found his wife died from pressure on the neck.

Susan Trim described her daughter as "loving, happy, kind and caring".

'Love her dearly'

"Julia was taken from us much too soon. She lived for her children and would have done anything for them," Mrs Trim added.

"My daughter and I were very close and I miss her more than words can say. I will always love her dearly and her beautiful memory lives on in her children."

On Tuesday, detectives said the deaths of a couple were being treated as murder-suicide.

Their two children, aged six and four, were not believed to have been at home at the time.

The date of an inquest into the deaths of Mr and Mrs Tshabalala has yet to be fixed.
